What does the Bible say about youth?
The Bible has a lot to say about the age of youth. Let’s see what all it has to say.

Set a good example
We are all called to set a good example to those around us. We are to be a light to those who are perishing, and encouragement to other believers.
1) 1 Timothy 4:12 “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.”
2) Ecclesiastes 11:9 “Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and the sight of your eyes. But know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.”

Remain in the Word
One command we are given is to remain in the Word. We are called to continually be filling our mind with truth. This is spiritual warfare, and our weapon against the enemy is the Word of God.

The Bible also commands the youth to pursue righteousness. Holiness is a command not a request. In all things we are to keep ourselves from being enslaved by sin.

Remember the Lord
The Bible also tells us that we are to pray continually, and to seek God always.

God is with you
The age of youth can be a very difficult time of life. The pressures of our carnal society weigh heavily. It can be easy to get discouraged and depressed. We must remember that God is always with us, even when the situation is difficult. Nothing happens outside of God’s control, and He is safe to trust.

Temptations seem to ramp up tremendously in our youth. It is often difficult to say no. But God is faithful and He always provides a way to escape temptation. All sin has consequences.

Find a good and godly community
Being an active member in a local church is not optional, its expected. Even if the church does not meet all of our personal preferences, as long as it is solid theologically and the leadership is godly and doing their best – it’s a church we should be faithful to. The church is not there to coddle to our preferences. We are not there to fill up on our spiritual gas tank for the week, it’s a place to serve others.

God uses young people
Just because you are young does not mean that God cannot use you in the lives of others. God uses our obedience to encourage others, and can use our words to spread the Gospel.

Examples of young people in the Bible
There are several examples of God using young people in the Bible:
· David was very young when he killed Goliath
o 1 Samuel 17:48-51 And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David. Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.

Be someone that can be looked up to. Stand for what is right. Live in obedience to God who gave His Son for you. Live in a way that would give no one cause to look down on you because of your age.
