We’ve all heard the phrase, “God is good.” However, have you pondered the goodness of God? Have you ever thought about the fact that His goodness never ends? Are you growing in your view of His goodness? Ask yourself these questions. Also, I encourage you to read these quotes about the goodness of God and meditate on the Lord. Relinquish control and rest in His sovereignty and goodness in your life.
God is the standard of what is good
Goodness comes from God. We would not know goodness and there would be no goodness without the Lord. The Lord is the standard of all that is good. Do you see the goodness of the Lord in the “Good News”?
God came down in the form of man to live the perfect life that we could not. Jesus, who is God in flesh, walked in complete obedience to the Father. In love, He took our place on the cross. He thought of you while being bruised and battered. He thought of you as He hung bloody on a cross. Jesus died, was buried, and was resurrected for our sins. He defeated sin and death and is the bridge between us and the Father. We can now know and enjoy the Lord. There is now nothing impeding us from experiencing the Lord.
The Christian through faith in the good and perfect work of Christ alone, is forgiven and justified before God. Christ redeemed us from the punishment of sin, and He has made us a new creature with new desires and affections for Him. Our response to the gospel of redeeming grace should be thankfulness. Christians want to praise the Lord and live a lifestyle pleasing to the Lord. The good that we do is from the Holy Spirit residing in us. God’s goodness changes everything about us. Have you experienced the goodness of God found in the gospel?
“There is but one good; that is God. Everything else is good when it looks to Him and bad when it turns from Him.” C.S. Lewis
“What is “good?” “Good” is what God approves. We may ask then, why is what God approves good? We must answer, “Because He approves it.” That is to say, there is no higher standard of goodness than God’s own character and His approval of whatever is consistent with that character.” Wayne Grudem
“Remember that goodness is in God’s character.”
God’s goodness is that He is the perfect sum, source, and standard (for Himself and His creatures) of that which is wholesome (conducive to well-being), virtuous, beneficial, and beautiful. John MacArthur

“When God balances the scales morally, it is not some standard outside Himself He looks at and then determines whether this is right or wrong. But rather it’s His very nature, it is His very character and nature that is the standard by which He judges.” Josh McDowell
God is good all the time quotes
Look for God’s goodness when things are going well and in hard times. When we set our focus on Christ and rest in Him, we can experience joy in suffering. There is always something to praise the Lord for. Let’s create a culture of praise and worship in our lives.

“Joy is not necessarily the absence of suffering, it is the presence of God.” Sam Storms
“Let Him therefore send and do what He will. By His grace, if we are His, we will face it, bow to it, accept it, and give thanks for it. God’s Providence is always executed in the ‘wisest manner’ possible. We are often unable to see and understand the reasons and causes for specific events in our lives, in the lives of others, or in the history of the world. But our lack of understanding does not prevent us from believing God.” Don Fortner

“Joy in God in the midst of suffering makes the worth of God – the all-satisfying glory of God – shine more brightly than it would through our joy at any other time. Sunshine happiness signals the value of sunshine. But happiness in suffering signals the value of God. Suffering and hardship joyfully accepted in the path of obedience to Christ show the supremacy of Christ more than all our faithfulness in fair day.” John Piper

“Thankfully, joy is an all-season response to life. Even in the dark times, sorrow enlarges the capacity of the heart for joy. Like a diamond against black velvet, true spiritual joy shines brightest against the darkness of trials, tragedies and testing.” Richard Mayhue
God’s good nature
Everything about God’s nature is good. Everything that we praise the Lord for is good. Consider His holiness, His love, His mercy, His sovereignty, and His faithfulness. “The character of God is the basis for our connection to him, not our intrinsic worth. Self-worth, or anything we think would make us acceptable to God, would suit our pride but it has the disturbing side-effect of making the cross of Jesus Christ less valuable. If we have worth in ourselves, there is no reason to connect to the infinite worth of Jesus and receive what he has done for us.” Edward T. Welch
“The greater your knowledge of the goodness and grace of God on your life, the more likely you are to praise Him in the storm.” Matt Chandler
