Pray Until Something Happens

We’re so quick to give up in prayer. Our emotions and our circumstances lead us to stop praying. However, we need to PUSH (Pray Until Something Happens).

Pray Until Something Happens: (Sometimes The Process Hurts)

My goal is to encourage you to continually endure in prayer, no matter how difficult your situation may seem. I also encourage you to read the two parables below, that remind us that we should pray and never give up.

Pray until something happens Scriptures

Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

If we’re honest with ourselves, unanswered prayers are very discouraging. If we’re not careful, unanswered prayers can lead to weariness and despair. If we’re not careful, we will come to a place where we say, “it just doesn’t work.” If you have been discouraged by not seeing the results of your prayers, I want you to keep fighting! One day, you will see the glorious fruits of your prayers. I know it’s hard. Sometimes it takes two days, sometimes 2 months, sometimes 2 years. However, we have to have an attitude that says, “I will not let go until You bless me.”

Is what you’re praying for worth dying for? It’s better to die than to quit in prayer. There have been certain prayers in my life that it took God three years to answer. Imagine if I would have quit in prayer. Then, I would not have been able to see God answer my prayers. I witnessed God get glory for Himself by answering my prayers. The deeper the trial, the more beautiful the victory is. As I mentioned in my trusting God article. This website was built on prayer and trusting in the Lord to provide. It took years and years of praying and weeping before the Lord allowed me to go full-time in the ministry. The process was painful, but it was worth it.

Philippians 2:13 “For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”

God taught me a lot in the process. There are many things that I wouldn’t have learned if I didn’t go through that process of praying. Not only did God teach me a lot, but He also matured me in many areas. As you are praying, remember that God is conforming you at the same time into the image of Christ. Sometimes God doesn’t change our situation right away, but what He does change, is us.

Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

What gives us strength to go on in prayer is praying for God’s will to be done. God’s glory is our joy and when our hearts are centered on Him getting glory for Himself, we won’t want to quit in prayer. I’m not saying that there is never sin involved while praying for God’s glory. We struggle with our motives and intentions. We struggle with covetous and selfish desires. However, there should be a godly desire to see God’s name glorified, and when we do have that desire, we are motivated to press on in prayer.

Romans 12:12 “Rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer.”

We are called to persevere in prayer. I’ll be honest, persevering is hard at times. I hate to wait. The process can be so draining and you feel as if you are on a roller coaster. With that said, while persevering can be hard, we are not only called to persevere. We are also to rejoice in hope and be devoted to prayer. When we are doing these things, persevering becomes easier.

There is joy when our joy comes from Christ and not our situation. No matter what difficult situation that you are in, there is a greater glory that awaits you. We must never lose sight of our hope of future things that the Lord has promised us. This helps us to be joyful in our trials. The more that you pray, the easier that it becomes. We should make prayer our daily exercise. Sometimes it hurts so much that words just can’t come out. The Lord understands you and He knows how to comfort you.

Sometimes the best thing to do is to be still before the Lord focusing on Him and allowing your heart to speak. He sees the tears of your heart. Don’t think that your prayers are going unnoticed. He knows, He sees, He understands, and He’s working even if you can’t see it. Continue to praise the Lord. Get before Him every day and pray until something happens. Don’t give up. Whatever it takes!

The Parable of the Friend at Night

Luke 11:5-8 “Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; 6 a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’ 7 And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’ 8 I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.”

The Parable of the Persistent Widow

Luke 18:1-8 “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2 He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’ 4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me! 6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Wow, praise the Lord.. I have been trusting God for something that is impossible with men for a while and it’s not happening and many times I wanted to give up but the parables of the “unjust judge” and the “midnight friend” kept me hanging on. After reading the article on “Trusting God” I am renewed and felt peace in my spirit. I felt God speaking to me in the verses you provided.. God is indeed glorified in your work.. Hallelujah. Thank you Jesus for your servant!

I seek Gods heart each morning to find answers of why my prayers aren’t being answered. I was glad to come across this website in my searching. The parables hit home for me. Being persistent in prayer is the key. Sometimes we have to be like Jacob and the Angel of the Lord I won’t let you go until you bless me. Having that spiritual tenacity will get your prayers answered. That is where I am now. I became frustrated two nights ago threw in the towel but it was thrown back to wipe my tears and to stay in the fight. Thank you for your servant Lord God he has blessed many with this reading I pray his work will continue to glorify you. In the matchless name of Jesus Christ. Amen
