10 Biblical Reasons To Witness

People always ask, “why should Christians witness to others?” Every minute there are many people who will die without Christ. These people will spend eternity in Hell. Even though you might be afraid of evangelizing to that unbeliever, Catholic, Muslim, or Jehovah Witness you always talk to, imagine how much worse it will be if they die without putting their faith in Christ alone.

You had a chance to tell them. Would a good doctor ever not tell someone they’re dying of cancer because they’re afraid of giving them bad news? Most unbelievers think they’re going to Heaven. Don’t be like most Christians and close your mouth. Preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.

1. Jesus commanded us.

Matthew 28:18-19 “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

2. A love for God and others.

2 Corinthians 5:14 “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.”

Philippians 2:3-4 “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

3. Jesus Christ is the only way and most people don’t know that.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 3:36 “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.”

John 3:18 “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

4. How will people know if they don’t hear?

Romans 10:11-15 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

5. You will glorify God.

1 Corinthians 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

6. God does not want anyone to go to Hell.

John 3:17 “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (God’s patience Bible verses)

1 Timothy 2:3-4 “This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

Luke 14:23 “And the master said to the servant, “Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled.”

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

7. Jesus is going to come when the gospel is preached around the whole world.

Matthew 24:14 “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”

8. People are blinded by Satan.

2 Corinthians 4:4 “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (Light verses in the Bible)

9. Witnessing helps us grow as believers.

Philemon 1:6 “and I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ.”

Colossians 1:10 “so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.”

10. Witnessing helps you to learn more about God’s Word.

2 Timothy 2:15 “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”

2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”
